Busted Windshield

[New Madrid]

Recently a hammer fell out of the sky and destroyed the windshield of my 2001Explorer Sport. I've been forced to drive around like Jim Carey in Ace Venutra with my head hanging out the window.

My questions is... Are the windshields to all Explorers a universal size or do the differ from year to year? I'm hoping to replace it with a trip to the junk yard.

Any advice would be great.

Also i had mine replaced for 220 from a glass co.

Chgeck with your insurance company... they may replace it for you. They figure the cost of relacement is cheaper than paying out for any accident that might be caused by the windshield.

State Farm did it for me on my old 97 Expolrer... twice.

It was one of those full-moon late-at-night family-was-in-town-visiting kinda busted windshields. If you know what I'm getting at...

We've got a good salvage yard here in St. Louis with miles of old explorers. Right now I've got more time then money. I'm trying to figure out the difficulty level of swaping out windshields. $220 is not much, but I might have to do it again, the holidays are almost on us.
