Good to hear the forum was helpful.

Hello Jason, I just tried to attach pics, let me know if that worked.
The key is to get the body of the amp grounded to the structure of the vehicle. The resistance measured with a multimeter should be around 5 ohms or less. Preferably much less. View attachment 163640View attachment 163641
Please notice in the picture with the red background (that's the tailgate of my pickup) that the black paint is removed from the two mount bolt holes on the right. And in the pic of it remounted in the Explorer that the bonding wires are now secured in those locations.
For location reference, that is the right aft passenger seatbelt that you see just forward of the amp.
If you need additional assistance, send your phone # and we can discuss.
Hope that helps.

Russ522x. What gauge wire did you use for your bonding wires? Or does gauge size not matter in this instance? Thank you! Very helpful! I just stumbled on to this post and have been fighting this issue off and on for the last year and a half

Hopefully Russ is still monitoring the Forum. He was last active here Dec. 24th.

If memory serves I used 8 gauge wire..I just tried to match it up to what the factory used.

I found a YouTube video where a guy goes into detail with this repair using russ’ method. Here is the link:

I don't know why he didn't just run a single ground wire from one of the amp screws to a newly drilled ground point on the body instead of removing the entire unit and sanding for a better ground on the mounting bracket? A ground is a ground. Seems like a lot of extra work.

Russ,
I am also having the same issue and your pictures are great. Are you saying I only have to remove the black paint where the two wires are bolted on be that should fix the issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated

FYI, Russ hasn't been seen here since Dec. 24, 2018. If it's a grounding issue, removing paint down to the bare metal should help.

So, I just removed this amplifier and I still hear the radio through my speakers just fine. There is no noise right now, which is good, but how is this happening? It's unplugged, shouldn't all the speakers be dead right now?

3 years ago, I removed the paint from ground wire above the amp and the buzzing went away for about 2 years. It came back last year and I performed the amplifier fix with 2 grounding wires as shown above and it worked up until last week. Now the buzzing noise is back. What other solutions?

I had the same issue on my 2012 explorer with 3.5 v6 engine If u open the hood and look down between the battery and the fuse box (it's a tight spot to get to) there's 2 ground wires bolted on the fender. I took those off, sanded them down and reconnected them and it took care of the buzzing.

The noise issue just came back after hitting a bump in the road. So came back here to look for more solutions, and you gladly posted one. Thank you. I’ll check it out as soon as I get the opportunity. Do you have any pics of those grounds?
