Hi everyone. Just picked up a 97 EB Ex with 4x4. The transfer case is make the infamous grinding noise. I wonder if I can disconnect the front shaft and put in a 1994 BW1345 transfer case which I 've got laying around and just to get by till I can find a 4405. I really don't need 4x4 but do need a daily driver truck. Will the 1345 work without the VSS install? Just want the buzzing/grinding noise gone. Thanks!

A 13-45 wont fit, its from a full-size. A 13-54 will fit though.

The VSS from your 44-05 should work in the 13-54.

I've got a BW1354 now and ready to install it. The VSS plug look kind of different, since I'm not going to use the 4x4 and front driveshaft is removed do I still need to connect it? My main thing is get rid of the grinding noise and just drive it locally. Maybe not plug in VSS and the other electric control plug? Thanks again for any inputs.

The VSS comes out, swap the one out of your case into the new case. Without it, you will have no speedo, your trans most likely wont shift right, and maybe some other things.

Getting dark and can't see much. Will continue in the morning. Thank you very much Snoranger!
