I have a 92 Ex and just bought a HU to put in it. I have been reading that I need to bypass the factory amp.......the problem I have is that I would still like to use the factory sub that comes with the explorer. Is there a way you can still use it with an aftermarket deck? Thanks.

I believe the sub and 4 corners have separate amps. You need to bypass the one for the 4 corners.

I used my factory sub with an aftermarket unit. You just need a wiring harness to bypass the amp in the rear near the sub...Costs about $15 for the harness.

Ahh so there are 2 amps? sounds like i need to read some more.

I haven't really heard anything about there being a second amp. But really you should only have to bypass the amp in the rear. The head unit should be able to run the sub right off of that, but if you don't bypass it then you'll fry your deck.
