I feel pretty confident that I will find it without any real big hassle.

2x4's cant even go to uwharrie can they?

oh yes they can. just may not be able to do some of the trails. as long as it has some decent tires and a lift up to 4x4 height or higher, 2x4's are ok.

oh ya man, I beleive you should have no problem with a lot of the trails actually. as long as it doesnt rain to make things slick, last time I went I was sitting on 29" firestone a/t's with about 25% tread left on, riding on stock height. Here are some pics from our last trip. a little about what the trucks have in the pics...Black...4"superlift running on 33x12.50 m/ts....Tan...t-bar crank running on 33x12.50 m/ts...Red(mine) running stock height with 29" worn out a/ts. I did bottom out quite a bit. any one else have any opinions on this?

personally i would say no to 2x4s unless they had a locker and wernt afraid of the skinny pedal or damage. 2x4s dont really belong on the trails anywhere. Sure they CAN make some stuff....but there are spots at URE where you need 4x4. I see a 2x4 unlocked being able to run 1 maybe 2 of the trails if its dry. If its wet...no way. the 2x4 will be on the end of a strap for most of the day. Thats gonna make both the 2x4 driver and the tow driver unhappy most of the day. Bring it out if you want to....but i wouldnt really be surprised when you cant do most stuff. Clearance wise you are ok. But thats not what gets ya. ;)

ya, I guess I really did think about that.

I say bring it and do what you can. The rest of the time, see if you can ride along. Unless it rains. Then you should just drive your camry. I'm kind of hoping for a little rain Friday or Saterday night.

P.S. that area can be slick with soft rocks...wet or dry.

I am really debaiting on meeting up with all of you. I'v gotten my Ex muddy but I've never really been on trails and I'm worried about clearence. I have a factury running board and Reese Hitch that I think will be a problem. Like I said earlier I am completely stock running on 27's. I don't need to go on all the trails but I would like to try my hand at some off roading.

Is there a quick and cheap way to raise it up a little?

Not a good picture but it shows the hitch and the running boards that are too low.

Yikes! Yea buddy, I hate to be the one to tell you, but those running boards...there going get ripped off. The Hitch, although it's not as low, I have seen them stop people dead in the water. Just take them off. They are bolted on. You seem mechanical minded enough. I tell you what hurts my feelings the most; I had a set of 30 in M/Ts that I would have gave to you. Instead I gave them to a 2 wd S10. I'm so sorry.

I would think so. You should gain about 1-1.5 inch of clearance from the boards. Don't quote me on that. The hitch will give you about three inches from the lowest point to your bumper. It's the quickest easyest thing you can do in such a short about of time.

Thanks for the thought, 30's would have been nice. If I take the running boards off and the hitch would that help? Also would cheap lift kit from Autozone work on an Exployer?

the only cheap lift I think you could get would be the shackles. Ive got the 2" block lift, but the rangers are also sprung over. so ya, very possibly you could get the shackle lift and crank t-bars. Just watch your alignment.

go by some cheap shackles from A.Z and do a tt for about 2 inches. it will not help for ground clearance any, but you could stuff the tires in the wheel-well further

They are right. Just turn your torsion bars and get you some shackles. About $30-$50 maybe?

you are welcome to come ride. If its dry out, you could run the 2 easy trails and be fine. Dont let the rig keep you from comming out.
