cam tensioner question 98 sohc

quick question, is the front tensioner compatable with the rear one? I was told by a ford tech they were interchangeable but I want to see what you all think.

reason: I need a new rear tensioner, and I have a spare front one.

they are different

The front tensioner is longer internally and externally. The front and rear tensioners are not interchangable.

Ok, thanks... I kinda figured as much, I have a ford dealer shop disc (96-02) that I got from a friend of mine at a dealership and it said the same thing, but the techs at a dealer in MD told me that they were interchangeable.... indiots!
