Since the front axle is locked anyways what exactly does the 4x4 computer do ?
I figure I can just put a nromal shifter on the transfer case and get rid of the Ford inspired crap electric bullcrap shifter and just shift it in and out of 4wd manually like god intended??

you need a whole new manual shift transfer case
OR
you can fabricate a shifter for your e shaft t case, its been done before!

Your front axle is not "locked" it has an open diff, I think what you mean is there are no hubs and the axleshafts always spin?

the 4x4 computer shifts the t case into 2hi, 4 hi, and 2 low (as you know) beased on input from the 4x4 buttons, the neautral safety circuit/and or clutch circuit

So the answer is kind of

Yes you can add a shifter, but you cant just add a shifter to your t case, you need an actual manual shift t case
OR
You can fabricate some sort of fancy t case shifter yourself, like the Mcneil Explorer had, discussed and posted on this forum, there are also other home brew elec shift t case shifters out there

yeah, thats what I meant, fabricate something to grab the part the electric
motor turns and link that to a manual floor shifter of some sort.
and yes I meant there are no other "switchable" parts such as hubs or such.
