I already did the torsion twist and Warrior shackles. I want to do more of a lift is it available and if it is who makes it and how much is it? I haven't seen any kits for the 95.

there is a 4" trailmaster, and a 4" superlift for like 97 explorers that can be made to fit on yours.

What type of fabrications would I need to do?

There are also 2 and 3" body lifts available.

Lots of info on this site by using the search feature.

I believe that your torsion bar adjuster mounts have to be cut off. the newer ones are bolted on, but I beleive yours is welded. Nothing a grinding wheel and a torch can't take care of. Just watch fuel lines!

Sounds dangerous.....Hmm dunno if I would want to do this by myself with my lack of experience. I did the torsion twist and shackles that was easy but when it comes to fire lol....... that's a no no.

Go with a body lift then. No fire needed...

I am definately gonna do that. Next step is to find one, and who makes it. Hey by the way John, I went to your website and man you have some skills come by chicago sometime maybe we can tear my truck up too lol!!!

You do not need torch anything on your truck to get the torsion bar brackets to fit. You just have to modify the torsion bar bracket by cutting the part that goes to the frame.
Here is a picture of what needs to be done
Dead Link Removed

Note You will have to buy the torsion bar adjustment portion (looks like a pork shop ) and the teflon plate from a 98+ model to make it work, But that's all
You can use your original torsion bar stuff from the 95-97 models( (I did that ), but then you have to modify the torsion bar bracket more and it's alot more hassel than just buying the 98+ adjustment stuff.

Uh guys none of that stuff needs to be done at all. Superlift makes a bolt on kit that requires no modification to the torsion bar brackets.

Duhhhhh........where do I get it from Jason help help help? =p

I dunno, anyone that retails Superlift stuff. 4 Wheel Parts maybe?

Tell them it's for a 96. Someone there screwed up big time and did not label the kit as fitting a 95.

That's what you guys that don't get snow and salt think!

Not too sure on that jason. I haven't see what one that is not bolted on looks like. But I am thinking, knowing that the superlift bracket looks almost the same as that trailmaster bracket, that it may have to be modded. That may be why Superlift doesn't market theirs to the 95 X.

Even if you did need to mod something, if your handy enough to take on the lift, you can modify brackets. If your not confident modifying a bracket or grinding something of, I don't know that I would be installing an IFS lift....;)

Dave, the 95-97 suspension is exactly the same. The torsion bar brackets are welded onto the frame. On the 98-01 models the torsion bar brackets are bolted to the frame.

Superlift used to only market their kit for 98-01 explorers and rangers because of the bracket design. Now they have begun marketing it to 95-97 explorers as well because of their updated design. Now, the torsion bar bracket "piggybacks" the existing torsion bar bracket instead of replacing it.

ok then it will work. It really isn't much then is it? So no modification is required!:D

Thanks for clearing that up Jason

taxxmann... im curious about that reference to body lifts and snow.... would it be unwise to throw a body lift on my EX up here in WIS??

I just meant after your truck sees a winter in the midwst with all that salt on the road, everything gets rusted together and bolts get real hard to remove. Just get some PB Blaster (liquid wrench) and soak all the bolts every day for like a week before you start. You may still need a propane torch to heat the bolts up and break the locktite to get them out.

ah.... thats not bad then, i was expecting something a little worse, im still apprehesive about throwing on the body lift.... but i need to go higher!
