Can I fix my own A/C with this issue...

Took my 03 Explorer XLT in to ford to figure why My A/C is blowing room temp now.

They said my hoses were corroded. any one know where this might be and is it anything I could do my self they wanted $1800 for it lol oh ford... I guess business is slow

they gave me the parts list but I cant cross reference these part #'s with non ford brand parts. Anyone have a blow out diagram of the A/C system???

It sounds like at the very least you'll need new hoses, try rockauto.com, they have a parts lookup and catalog on the site which is pretty good. How comfortable are you working on cars? I ask because the mechanical ability to fix a/c isn't very high however, you need to know exactly what you're doing and how to do it because it can be very dangerous. So while replacing the lines isn't too hard, that's only half the battle. You still will have to recharge the system. That involves special tools (vacuum pump and gauges at the very least) which will run you $300-$500 depending on what you get. My advice is get it looked at by a reputable a/c shop and ask exactly what they recommend replacing. Depending on how badly the lines are corroded you probably want to replace the accumulator as well along with the orfice tube. Get a quote for the labor and a recharge. You'll probably be able to save a few bucks by replacing the parts yourself and then dropping it off to get recharged.
