I know some of the first gen Explorers came with manual hubs. Since it seems that both of my auto hubs are toast (you know you're overloaded when you manage to break both hubs at once :D), and I don't really have the money for the Warn conversion at the moment, can I just swap out the auto hubs for a set of factory manual hubs? I'm assuming I'd need to get the spindle nuts with them as well....

The conversion kit will still be needed. Spindle nuts and lock washers. But you can do it. Why though? WARN have a lifetime warranty. You can usually get a good pair of auto hubs on eBay for ~$80.

Are you saying you already have a set of factory manual hubs? If so, the conversion kit is cheap. Two nuts and a washer per side, get them at Napa.

Also, factory manual hubs are made by Warn and have their lifetime warranty.

don't have hubs at the moment (other than my broken auto hubs)...knowing that Warn made the factory hubs, and I'm trying to save a few bucks...just thinking along the lines of if I can pick up factory parts cheap from a junkyard or someone parting a truck out....
