dumb question but, will it make a diffrence? im eyeing a set of 245 70 16 and currently running stock 255 70 16s?

You can but try looking at a 255/65/16 tire. The shorter tire will handle better, and the stock diameters were 29-30", depending on model and wheel. The tire you suggest is 29.5" tall, I'm running the 255/65 tire now, it's a 29" tire.

The closest speedometer accuracy will be with a 30" tire, other sizes add some error. Divide the 30 by you new size, that's the error.
