As far as I know, the 13-50 (BII) and the 13-54 (Explorer) transfer cases are readily interchangeable. It seems that there is a difference in the front output that may require adaptation of the front driveshaft.

So I'm gonna have to modify it for the front shaft to fit?

Correct. I can't remember which is which, but one of the t-cases has a splined front output and the end of the front driveshaft just slides in. The other has a yoke attached to the front output, and attaches to the u-joint on the front driveshaft. Having never done the swap, I don't know what all is involved, but I would expect a driveline shop should be able to adapt one to the other without too much difficulty.

Well j just went and picked it up. One side has a yoke and there is a hole with splines beside it. The other side has a wheel with 4 bolts. I assume for the rear

I also google some pics of the two. And it looks like I'm good to go. Now all I need is the motivation to get underneath it in this cold weather haha

So why are you swapping? are you going from an auto to a manual t-case?

No. The one I had already didn't work. And to make matters worse my rear shaft just blew out of the back. Taking all the threads with it. So instead of drilling and tapping or any of that bs a buddy sold me his bronco two t case for 40 bucks. Good motor and everything. So it was just easier. It looks like it'll work. Both electric shift. Looks like same front yoke and all that jazz.

Just a little update. The transfer cases are able to be swapped. I didn't need any customization for the front shaft or anything. The only pain was doing it on the street with one jack and little help.
