Hey all,

I was hoping someone could spend a couple of minutes under their explorer for me to measure a couple of things...

I need to know what the height is from the ground to the top of the chassis, in the area roughly where the driver sits. Stock ride height on an AWD V8 would be prefered. This would be for figuring out cab/ride height on a stock chassis.

Also someone with a dropped (not a crazy drop, just the torsion stuff) Exp measure the same thing ?

I am researching the possbility of putting a 1951 Ford F1 cab onto an Exp. some of you may remember me posting about this a while ago.
So far I know the width isn't an issue, the cab is wide enough (about 59 inches) to take either a 1996-2001 OR a 2001 - 2005 chassis. (the chassis has to sit inside the area of the cab, and can't stick out to where the running boards are)
I also know the wheelbase of the F1 standard is 114 inches, which also works well since a 2000 4dr is about 111.6 and a later one 113.7 so either will work.

Thanks all !

i will tell ya what, i will give you the measurements for mine, all i have is a 3"bl, and 33" super swampers, that should give you an idea or a platform for some simple math

ps, the torsion drops the ex 1-2" or if it is flipped thats another story

ground to top of chassis is 21 1/4". My lift has no effect, my tires do however. so that is with 33s on the driverside and i am a v8. I have also done a 1" tt so figure that in too.

The rest is simple, figure in what you want for the tt drop. However many inches you drop jsut subtract

Hey thanks thintech, I appreciate it.
Your Ex's chassis, still lower than the chassis on an old F1 truck, they sit way up there.
I am hoping that dropping the truck body onto the frame will bring it down a long way without messing with too much suspension stuff. I am likely to Airbag the whole thing with Shockwaves but it is good to know what a stock one sits at, I don't want to end up with only 2" of suspension travel just to get the stance right.

Cheers !

My V8 is 19.25" to the top of the chassis. I would say stock ride height would be about 18" - 18.5".
