Can you advance the base timing on a 97 5.0?

Guys,

Other than a chip, is there a way to advance the timing on the 5.0's? I know there's a pickup where the distributor used to be, can that be turned the way distributors can be turned?

I don't know of a method just yet. I tried to turn the cam sensor, and it just threw engine codes at me. My college roommate thinks that I can adjust the crank sensor, but I don't know yet. Since he's now at Comp Cams in R&D, maybe Comp, TCI, or one of the other Comp Cams companies will make something to adjust timing on EEC-V computers.
