I just swapped the motor on this 04 explorer 4.0L and I have one plug I can't find where it goes. It is against the firewall. I am not sure if it is related but the battery light is on. Thanks in advance

put a jumper in the plug and see if the battery light goes out with ignition in on position only

nope that didnt do anything. i really want to find what it actually goes to to see if i am missing something. i bought the truck with the motor partially pulled apart and found out there were things missing.

anyone have a diagram of the engine harness. i did a search but didnt find anything for this truck.

Is the alternator charging the battery?
I have a Chiltons manual I'm looking through.
I have the same motor in an 03' I took a look an found one 2 pin connector that plugs into the EGR vacuum regulator. Have you started the motor yet?

Yeah the motor runs fine. The alternator is working properly and charging. I'll double check the knock sensor but I am pretty sure it is plugged in. I wonder if the battery light has anything to do with an aftermarket radio in the truck.

I ran the codes and it gives P0620 generator control circuit but it is charged by fine

Looks like a...

Fox,

That sure looks like the size, shape and location of an oxygen sensor! Check your exhaust system, and maybe search for a photo of the oxygen sensors.... Parts store probably has the other side to the connection, which is the maintenance item. Previous owner may have modified exhaust system or deleted cats?

Good luck....

Is it on the engine harness or the engine bay harness? I know I have seem an empty plug just like it in a 3rd Gen before that way like that from the factory. I want to say it's the plug that runs to the little lights on the premium steps or in the fenders of a mountaineer (come factory with side marker)

It is on the engine bay or firewall harness.
