cannot get transmission to line up to install it

I got a transmission at a salvage yard. Got old one out. The one I got, I can't seem to get it lined up right. I got torgue converter seated all the way in. It gets a gap when I try to tighten the bolts down and I can no longer turn the crank shaft. If I get the transmission in most of the way and hit starter will it line everything up or break something?

DONT DO IT
Your converter is NOT seated fully
the converter should actually pull forward into the flexplate about 3/8" (almost 1/2") when the trans is completely bolted up to the engine

YOu need to drop the trans again and get that converter fully seated, it takes some effort and do not let it slip forward during raising the trans
