- 2001 Explorer Sport
I bought a 2001 Explorer Sport from my brother and he said that it no longer shifted into 4x4 mode for him. He had it looked at and purchased a new transfer case motor, but hadn't had time to install it yet.
I have since installed the motor, following the directions included with it.
I did notice that it did not appear to have any connections (nor a wire from the truck) for the speed sensor, as indicated in the directions.
So, I've got the motor installed, but nothing happens when I select 4hi or 4low. The dash indicators do not illuminate and the xfer motor doesn't appear to do anything at all. I have noticed that a number of lights on the dash and console do not light. (Headlight switch, 4x4 switch, 1/2 of the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel, rear wiper and defrost, etc.)
I wondered if perhaps I have a fuse or relay problem that could be the cause.
I am going to purchae a fuse checker today and inspect them, but I'm not sure if this is the actual problem.
Has anyone run into a similar issue?
