Alright, so I think this has been discussed before but I couldnt find it. Frequently when I try to shift from park to reverse or drive if gets stuck between the letters, and I have to bring it back to P and try again. Any idea why it's doing this? Is there a fix for this?

put your foot on the break...

Yeah, I thought that was implied..

I've noticed this happening when my '02 MM AWD somtimes. It might not bad as bad as what your discribing but if I'm not on a level ground and it rolls to lock into gear, its harder to remove the shifter lever from park.

It might be that you need a new brake shift interlock switch. There is a TSB about this problem. TSB 04-22-12. If you can't find it on the internet send me a PM with an email address.

MSM0075, yes, that's when it happens the most.

i believe it's called torq-lock...

when parking on any sort of incline you should always apply the parking brake before shifting into park. that way the full weight of the vehicle is being held in place by the parking brake, which it's engineered to withstand, rather than the parking pin within the transmission, which can fail over time.

my driveway is on an incline and when i park my truck i always take it ouf of gear, put it in neutral and roll back about a foot or so, then apply the parking brake and let off the brake slowly to let the parking brake take the weight of the truck. then i reapply the brake and put it in park. next time when i go to leave i can move the gearshift without any problem because there is no weight on the parking pin.

read this article, it might explain the concept better than i could. hope this helps...
