Hey guys, maybe someone here can be of some assistance.
Truck is a '99 Explorer XLT 5.0L 2wd automatic.
EVERYTHING else works, but I can't get the blower motor to blow on the highest speed(Biggest dot).
It functions as an "off" position....
I work at CarQuest, and I replaced the switch on the dash, blower motor resistor, and all the relays.
NO EFFECT.
I pulled the pigtail off the resistor, and the slot for the yellow wire is melted pretty bad, but still functions, because I started jumping the pins from the hot wire(orange) to the other pins(Yellow, red, and green), and each one will produce the blower motor on the highest setting(yay, now I know the blower motor is 100%).
HOWEVER, as soon as the switch is on the biggest dot/highest setting, there is no power supplied to the hot wire(orange) anymore......??? WTF!!!???
So, if it's NOT the blower motor, NOT the blower motor resistor, NOT the blower speed switch, NOT the relays, and the pigtail still works even with the melt, what the hell could it be?
No matter what I do, I lose all power and nothing works when the switch is placed on the highest setting, even if I have the pins jumped, and the fan blowing on the highest speed, as soon as the switch is placed on the highest speed, everything goes dead......
