Hey i was wondering if any body has gotten an aftermarket alarm and has had problems with the facotry alarming itself with out using the keypad. I have recently purchased a compustar alarm and the guy at the store told me that there is no way to disable the factory alarm, that basically i have to just leave it dissarmed. Does any body know if this is true or if there is away around it? thanks by the way i have a 97 w/5.0 and no chip in the key.

anybody?

What is the exact problem with the factory alarm arming itself? Without using the lock button or the keypad, the factory alarm is still arming itself?

btw: I am deleting your other two posts regarding the same situation

Am I reading it right? You have 2 alarms on your car? 1 factory and 1 aftermarket and the factory alarm is still in operation. I need clearer details please.

To try to clear this up some, i had a compustar alarm put in. They said that they could not disable the factory alarms. So i guess u could say it has two alarms. the problem is i wanted a system to completely take over the functions of the factory alarm with remote start and better features. this alarm does that but some how the factory alarm still arms it self occasionaly. i havent had a chance to fully test it and see what all makes this occur. the one thing i noticed is that if the doors are open and i arm the compustar alarm the factory alarm also arms, therefore when i disarm the compustar alarm it unlocks the door and i can get in but then the factory alarm goes off so then i need to use the original ford keypad to disarm. id like to be able to get away with only using one alarm pad. i think there is also a problem when i use the keypad on the door like i can get into it and then shut of the compustar alarm but then the next time i open the car the factory alarm will go off. i not sure if there is anything else causeing this. I think a possible solution would be to complete get rid of the factory alarm.

btw, jsut for refrence the compustar alarm is not all its cracked up to be, it works good when its working properly but my FM remote already died and it still has half the battery life left, currently i have to use a backup remote i had to purchase for extra
