After searching a few times has anyone ever put a carbed 302 or higher engine in a second generation. The reason im thinking about doing this is to get away from all the electronic stuff. This probably won't be happening till sometime after I do my SAS. Hopefully i put this in the right forum.

Going to a carb'ed setup has its advantages AND disadvantages. I hope you have studied up on those.

More people go with fuel injected swaps, but I believe a few here have gone carb, although it may be 1st gen. Keep in mind some states have laws about putting older engines in newer trucks.

Yeah I have done a little research about it but I have a hard time finding info on this subject. One advantage is that you don't have to worry about a wiring harness. Also if something goes wrong you only have to readjust the timing belt or carb. Generally speaking at least. I figure i will probably not get as good gas mileage if i do this. Which is fine at the moment because i plan on having another vehicle by the time i do this swap. As far as i know Georgia and Alabama don't have laws like this. We have no emissions checks that i know of either. I also don't plan on moving out of this area for a while. So emissions is probably not gonna be a problem for me. If anybody else has any more comments or tips those would be appreciated.

If your going to be wheeling it i'd keep your fuel injection or swap in a fuel injected v8. 2nd gens did come with a 302, find one, pull the engine, tranny, wireing harness, computer(s) etc. and you'r a good ways there.
