You have to remove the center pop-ins, and beat the hell out of this bracket (the big one next to the yellow circle) towards the back of the truck with a rubber mallet or a small sledge and a block of wood to get it to slide out to the rear. That is looking toward the back of the truck, camera is where the cupholders would be, with the tissue holder pulled out of the center console if you're not familiar...

Some of them slide out easy, some need the BFH... :D

OK I think I see how to do it. I'm trying to remove the bolt from the passenger seat and it looks like somoene stripped it. Whats the best way to get this sucker out?

If the head is stripped, you'll probably have to pound on a smaller socket. If it's past that, head to Sears and get some special tools. :)

Its not a socket its what looks like a star bit

Stripped screws are the bane of my existence. My guess is it needed a special torx bit, and whoever was in there before didn't have it, and tried removal with a Philips screwdriver. Sucks.

Anyway, I've had zero luck with those stupid ass screw extractor kits. Last time I used one it snapped off in the drilled out screw. That being said, since the screw is inside, it won't be locked with rust and you should be able to get it out with an extractor.

Im going to go to Sears and see what I find. I realyl want to get this carpet replaced my self since it will save a couple hunderd getting it done in a shop.

Yeah, that's supposed to be a T50 Tord bit for the seatbelt bolt. Someone didn't have a breaker bar, and tried to do it with a regular socket and probably kept sliding it out. They're very finicky bolts...

When you get your carpet out, if you didn't buy carpet yet- check my thread below for a cheap, easy, and incredible solution. :)

That's why I document my struggles... :D

I thinking of changing the color though. I will pressure wash the carpet though just to see what it will look like

What color are you currently stepping on, and what color are you thinking of going to?

Im not sure if you saw my other post or not but I am trying to match the gray the outside of the Explorer is. It is pretty close to color I want. I'm just going to clean up the carpet and run some wires and see how it looks. I don't want to go cheap since I have over 10 large in the paint, rim, and other upgrades I have done.

Oh wow- depending on how dirty the carpet is, the pressure washing will do very well- pre-treat with a cleaner for the rough spots, then I pre-sprayed with the degreaser at the quarter wash, then immediately go to high pressure soap, wand no closer than 6" or you'll get lines. For a very good wash, I'd have about $15 in quarters handy.

my center console didnt come out with any amount of hammering, so I attached a ratchet strap to the rear of the console then to the rear hitch and ratcheted it until it POPed

I got my own pressure wash I will try to use first if I can find a way to mount it to one of the walls and I'll see how to turns out. I didnt get time to go to sears though since I had to get my temp. tags for my new truck today. I want to get the rear seat out though at least along with my current audio stuff. I just got to find a good place to store it. LOL.
