cat back will give you better sound and performance. for even more sound and performance you would want to buy headers as well. start with the cat back system, its a bit cheaper than the headers, what kind of sound are you looking for?

im not lookin for the really low pitched sound i kind of want the dull thud sound, but im mostly lookin for power, but the sound would be nice as well

I own a 94 2 door and went with the flowmaster cat back exhuast kit (pn #17246) it is 2 1/2 pipe all mandrel bent and was about 200. its not too loud you only hear when you get on it. i noticed a little better acceleration but it wasn't huge.

magnaflows are made for performace maybe look into one of those. they have descent sound my muffler kind of varies at times it might just be me though.

I would definitely go with a Flowmaster super40 muffler along with 2 3/4 in piping for your catback system. I have that setup on my 02 with the 4.0 and the power difference was very noticable in the low end and it sounds great too.

Was this exhaust system a easy fit? Or was there allot of custom work involved?

I acually went to a local exhaust shop and they custom bent stainless pipe and welded everything in place for me. For materials and labor plus tax it came to $300. Worth every penny. Plus they warrantied it for as long as I own the truck. Not too bad if you ask me.

I put a Roush Thunderbolt catback system with the Magnaflow on my 03 4.0. A friend put the same system except with a Flowmaster on his 02 4.0. The Flowmaster gives a considerably deeper tone (but also a very loud drone on the highway) than my Magnaflow. However, my Magnaflow seems to give a hair more low end than the Flowmaster. Overall, I like the Magnaflow. Atleast I can still talk to a passenger without having to yell.

i'm kind of curious too...but most of you have not posted what size motors you have...i have a 95 2.3l 4x4 5 speed and the first thing i did was to go to my muffler guy and had him check out my system, california being a big smog state....i did find their is a reducer between my catylitic converter and the muffler...he said by changing that it would definately increase horse power...he also informed me that to upsize from my standard piping would not do much at all on my 4 cylinder motor...my truck has no passing gear in the throttle and i would like more power on the lower end...it takes about 1900 rpm before the power picks up...if anyone knows anybody who has mod their 4 cylinder exhaust and improved performance and fuel, please get ahold of me....and i like to keep it quiet to...i know, i'm asking alot, lmao

i went to midas, and the guy wanted $475 for a catback system and i checked at other places and they wanted about the same, im thinkin of just ordering a kit off the internet, is this a good idea????

first, what size is your motor? and second i would find a local, recommended by off road and / or performance shops, muffler guy and see what he says...
