Hi all

Since ive installed aftermarket Bosal cat converter without any heat shields like in OEM one (also forgot to reuse the old ones),my gen4 driver floor getting hot a bit and i guess it affects A/C efficiency..

Bought two 15ft exhaust wrap rolls and a pair of Corvette cat heat shields:

Then wrapped my exhaust Y-pipe using regular hose worm clamps (stainless steel ones) and installed corvette cat heat shields (on the top side of cat-converter - beneath chassis heat shield) using annoying stainless tension clamps

Warning: use protection gloves and glasses because of small fibers coming from exhaust wrap.!!

Thanks a lot!

Fair warning, that pipe is going to have a reduced lifespan due to the wrap.

You right

OEM pipe with heat shields will be better for sure..

I wrapped the pipe that ran under the front of my M5OD to keep it from getting so hot. Still using the original pipe 20 years later.

I suppose that’s probably not as much as an issue where it’s extremely arid.

I have no any experience with extreme exhaust corrosion in Israel...i guess because of the hot weather and lack of anti snow and ice road chemicals like in america and europe

This pipes(instead of the catalytics) can be painted (heat resistant paint) prior to wrapping.

Ive seen this wraping practice in old 40 year M113 APC exhaust and several caterpillar power generators

I didn’t see you were somewhere arid as well. You probably won’t have any issues. I’m used to a factory exhaust being lucky to last 10 years.
