OK. I shall post some more information. I read all posts about tcc and P0741 code. But still I think my case is a bit different. Like everyone I guess.
My simptoms are.
The TCC is from time to time not engageing. It hapend four times now (period of four months). Every time TCC stoped engageing and OD light start to blink (happend every time I was accelerating - but not kickig down). Three times I came home and next morning everithing was ok. The OD light stopped blinking and the TCC lockup is back. No codes could be read at dealer lokal shop.
Today OD light started to blink on highway when passing a bus - no TCC lock up again. Went straight to dealer and read code P0741. They said something is wrong with tranny and want to replace it (in my country dealers are replaceing trannys not repairing).
They then reset the computer. When driving back home I noticed immidietly that TCC won't lock up and it was a meter of few miles when OD light came back. :-((
And what I was thinkig then.
Because TCC selenoid is also working based on electricity I decidet to disconet the battery for ten minutes. And miracle. The TCC lockup is back.
I read that the code P0741 is related to TCC selenoid or bad torque converter. And now I would like to rule out torque converter because it is the cost I can't afford at the moment. Rebuilt will probably totaled my explorer - new tranny around here is about 7000 US.
In most of the cases the new TCC selenod solved the problem.

)
But, can I be shure that only TCC selenoid is the problem in my case?
And here are few more symptoms and facts:
1. Engageing a lockup is a bit tricky. Example: if I accelerate (but not hard – half a gas pedal) the lockup won't engage till I let the gas pedal a bit off (if I do not get off the pedal I risk OD light). And the engagement is not smooth - revs goes suddenly from 2.500 rpm to 1.900 rpm when fully engaged. I also changed TPS because in some cases that was the problem. But not in mine. J
2. I also noticed a ticking sound behind gauges in the dash. The ticking is rising with revs and stops immediately the TCC lockup is engaged. Strange to me to. I was thinking maybe some kind of relay back there.
3. For some 20.000 miles now I can hear a whistle when I put from park to Drive or Reverse. The wistle is only present when in drive mode. Like turbine on disel engines. A know this sound is produced by torque converter but I do not remebmer it when I bought the truck. Also the whistle is more obvious when driveing on long trips. Does this mean anything?
Today I had to do a 150 mile trip and TCC lock up worked fine after morning trubles and hard reseting the computer. Of course I drove gently because I couldn't aford OD light again (mostly highway at 80 m/h).
I hope everything is understandable. And sorry for the grammar. I did't write this much in english since high school.
