What length is the antenna?

roof rack.

I mounted mine to the roof rack. Used a radio shack mirror mount for a GM vehicle with some extra long bolts. Ran a cable down to the drivers side rear passenger door, along the top of the door frame, down through the inside of the fender, into the engine compartment, and back through the firewall.

Centre of the vehicle is the best place to mount for functionality, but maybe not practical if you tend to be driving thru the bush, where a rear bumper mount may be better.

i used a magnet mount, but a single magnet mount wont hold up with a 4 foot antenna, so i got the "triple five" it is three five inch magnets mounted on a 1/4 inch thick triangular aluminium plate, problem is, to get it off you have to unbolt eath magnet cause its too strong to pull off, works great, just have to remeber to take antenna off before you go into a garage or somthin. also, invest in the heavy duty springs, if you dont you WILL hit a tree limb or try to go into a garage and damage somethin and it sux havin to replace expensive stuff because you want to save a couple of bux (trust me i know). if you dont use heavy duty springs, when you drive down the highway, your antenna will be bent backwards and it kinda looks a little wack.

Mine is mounted to the roof with a custom mount. Go to my webpage for pics and descriptions of it. It works really well, and I'm really happy with it. Good luck!
