Has anyone mounted an aftermarket CD changer in their explorer. I want to put it in the center council (or at least for it to be in reach of the drivers seat if possible) but just don't think that it will fit without some serious modifications. Any suggestions??

they put my prehistoric sony changer in my armrest....its at least 10 years old(so its oversized)..still have some room left for junk as well.....just gotta remove some of the plastics that are screwed on the inside....

So.... how big is that thing anyways? If its that big I might be able to do the same kinda thing for my amp...

I looked at putting my Kenwood in the Center Console But I don't change CDs that often so the extra storage was worth it to me. I ended up mounting it to the Jack Storage pannel in the back. It stays hidden under the cover and is easily removeable if I need to.

prolly 1/2-3/4" bigger on all 4 corners then the factory changer..if not more....

I mounted mine in the hatch right behind the passenger fold down metal flap. Put the brain in the glove box and so forth. I use my center console to much to get rid of the space that it has.

i mounted mine in the back trunk across from the jack storage panal. i removid the outer panal installed the cd changer in the opening, ran the wires through the wall, and built a new panal out of a piece of diamond plate to fill in the opening. i got pic on my cardomain site http://www.cardomain.com/ride/567590/2

I mounted my aftermarket Kenwood changer in the armrest just like the pick above. All you gotta do it pull out the center console cup holders, they are in there with clips, just start at the front an pull back towards you, it comes right out. run the cable from the deck down to the opening, reach in and grab it, then stuff it in the open spaces down under the cup holders. Next unscrew the CD holder, tape holder, and junk holder plastic thingy in the center. Its just 2 screws at the front of it and like 3 on the bottom of the pocket and it comes out. Just put in the changer, and mount it with the supplied brackets the changer came with. Not too bad.....
