My CD player is jammed in the load position and I can't figure out how to unjam it. How do you remove the radio/CD player unit ('02 XLT). Or is removing it to fix a dumb idea?
thanks for the info, but I'm still not sure how to get the radio/cd unit out of the dash. I assume they're in a rack which slides out once screws are removed but where are screws or tabs that hold the unit in the dash?
Pop out the molding around the head unit (plastic peice with vents in it) and there are 4 bolts holding the head unit in. Should be one or two wire harnesses connected and that's it.
On the bottom of the HU, you can't miss them, do a search on HU removal, you'll get pics, how to's etc it will for sure be faster than waiting for someone to reply
here is a pic of the dash, the Brown Panel prys up, us something wide or you will dent the trim. I use a butter knife. . Actually two bolts on the bottom of the radio and it should pull out. The rear sits on a guide. I found it easy to disconnect the top two harness plugs but leave the rest plugged in (EVAC)
