I have started to deal with the overheating issue but now the display keeps going out and hten it will decide to come back on for a little while. Mostly it does not display. Has anybody seen this?
I have a '98 Explorer XLT. I am about to go and by an after market system because of the troubles I am having with this unit.

Still, it's a mixed blessing, with a new head unit, it'll have a small amp unit in it to produce more heat, but most likely the components inside are better, and so won't go out on you. I don't think anyone really found a solution to this. The word of caution on the board seems to be if you get a CD player, get an oven glove too, cause those CDs will get really hot!
