My CEL came on, i had it read and cleared, now i want to fix the problem. It says EVAP leak, (large), what could that be? when i fill my gas tank, right before it stops the pump, gas spills EVERYWHERE. it looks like there isnt a tight seal around there the nosel goes in and where the feed neck for th tank is, any ideas? thanks
Clay

Hard to believe no one here has any idea. would silicone work?

I replaced the fuel filler neck on my '97 yesterday. The hole where the flapper is below the bottom of the gas cap was gone. The fuel filler neck is attached to the car body with three small screws and to a pair of rubber hoses with thin hose clamps. Even if the hole was blown out like mine, you could still fuel the truck without spilling gas all over.

That leaves the tubes coming off of the part where the gas cap is or a rotted or disconnected hose. Either way, silicon won't help. The small hose is the vent so since the spill doesn't occur until it's nearly full, I'd look at that first to see where the break is.
