I have a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer. All factory equipment and no aftermarket anything. I cannot unlock the doors with the code on the card anymore. The key FOB's work and I can lock the doors with the keypad.

I opened the rear panel to verify the number matches the central security module. It does. I've searched the forum and have not read any conclusive solutions to CSM problems.

Has anyone personally had a successful CSM/keypad repair/reprogram/replacement? Either as a do-it-yourselfer or at the dealer?

I have the same problem now. I found an old CSM in a junk yard and it fixed the problem I had initially which was my remotes did not work. Now my keypad will not work. Ford tells me that I may have to bring it in to be reset/recoded. Not sure if I buy that though. Did you have any luck with your issue?

Ammendment

Sorry the first time I read the post I didn't see that you can lock the doors with the key pad. Your problem is likely because of your actual keypad. Some times the buttons can actually quit working from heavy use. For example the 3/4 key gets worn out alot. You may have to get a new keypad of try to repair the one you have.

What does the Security Module on a 2001 Mountaineer look like...? One site says it is in a metal box... I found what looks like a computer module in the jack compartment... but it is just a black plastic rectangular box (approx 4"x2"x1") with a harness coming out of it... Is this the Security Module...? It has numbers on it, but none are a sequence of 5 as many sites say it should be.... I used a mirror and 'looked' over the other 'electrical boxes' in that area (jack compartment...) and found no other stickers with numbers on it...

Did you try and reprogram the keypad with the new five digit number from the junk yard csm?
