What sort of noise are you getting? Mine's done 98,000km and I don't have a problem. Where did you here about the recall?

when at idle theres sort of a rattlin sound and if i hold the revs up a bit higheer than idle it goes away so i was thinkin the chain may be loose and i heard on this board there was a recall or somethin not necesseraly in oz cheers shaun

Half the recalls that happen overseas don't necessarilly happen here. You may want to ring Ford here as they will have a recall list. Whenever I had my car serviced they had the hsitory of my car which listed outstanding recalls.

If you can get me your VIN number I can run it and tell you what recalls are open on your truck.

Also, do a search for a fairly recent post from someone that just finished fighting with Ford Austrailia for 9 weeks to get his repaired. The original poster ended up getting everything covered. The post was made less than a week ago. I believe it was on the "under the hood" forum. He had a lot of good information and tips regarding getting Ford to cover it per the U.S. requirements.

When mine idles it has a constant ticking. Sorta sounds like tapping valves, but I know thats not the problem. Is that what the tensioner noise sounds like? Ford told me that all my recalls had been done, but it wouldnt suprise me if they were wrong.

Freaked me out... no fear.
I called ford dealership and demanded to talk to the tech in charge. He was really nice and said not to worry, it is your injectors firing gas into your cylinder. :) There are some coforts, eh?

The ticking is the injectors firing gas in the cylinders? I find that hard to believe. You sure that wasnt just a line of BS?

I promise you. Makes total sense to me.
You could try disconeccting one and seeing if it skips a tick, I would, but my explorer is in a towing-yard right now because of obvious reasons :(
