whew... i think i need a nap.

you had said there was continuity across the mega fuse didn't you? before you go just replacing the mega fuse, remove it and clean the terminals (assume it's held in place with 2 small nuts) as the fuse isn't burnt out it might just me a bad connection.

I did just that but was only a second and I did not know would blow that fuse. Thought is a slow blow fuse just for that occasion. "Live and learn" as they say. I am soooo happy.

That's sound advice koda. Probably a good place to start. I use high current fuses at work all the time and its not uncommon for them to show continuity and still be bad. If you use the meter on continuity scale it will tone out but on ohms it might read 800/1k ohms.

I did just that I took out and cleaned with a wire brush pretty as a penny but... guess it was gone. and yes showed continuity. That fuse guess does that.

oh, so it (the mega fuse) was blown all along. depending on how far you are from the parts store, and whether you have another vehicle to drive, you could just put a piece of wire in place of the mega fuse temporarily (we know you don't have any shorts at the moment). - just don't try changing your starter (or doing any other electrical work) until it's replaced.

your lesson is, never work on your vehicle w/out disconnecting the battery first.
