i don't need to change it yet, i think, but it has over 200,00 miles on it. is it a pain to change?

Wouldn't call it a pain but the timing cover doesn't have any alignment pins so care must be taken to center the cover over the crankshaft. I didn't get mine quite centered and I have a small drip from the balancer. I had a coolant leak from the cover.

If you could get an inspection camera looking at the Cam sensor and it's vane you might be able to turn the crank back and forth and determine how much slack/wear the chain has between the crank and the cam shaft. Unless it is making a noticeable amount of noise it's probably good.
