Well here is what I did. I drained the fluid one night let it set for two days (do to work load) and drained it again. At that point I pulled the pan and filter, looked like maybe 3 gallons total. Cleaned the oil pan and magnet, not to bad I didn't think 70,000 miles on the rig. I have only owned it sense last September. I disconnected the lower cooler line and attached fittings to both the transmission and the line to the cooler with a clear lines on both. Now that I have did it once that part wasn't needed I had copied down some bad info. So here's what I ended up doing after I installed the new filter and reinstalled the pan and filled it with fluid, I plugged the line to the cooler and put the other line in an empty bucket I started the truck and let it push out about 2 gallons of fluid shut it off and refilled it and repeated the above steps. At that point I connected the two clear lines from the transmission and to the cooler started the truck and let it pump clean fluid through the cooler. I then disconnected the two lines and pumped it out one last time looks good and clean now. Reinstalled the cooler line and made sure it was full.

I pumped about 5 gal of fluid through the transmission and wasted another 2 gal because I contaminated it with old fluid. It pays to read more then just the first post.

As my boss says "Education is not cheap"

Tim

P.S. Thanks guys there is lots of good info here but you have to read it.
