How hard is it to change the plugs of a 2000 v-8? What kind should I use and should I need any special tools.
Thanks

i dont know about a 2000, but heres how i do my 96. (shouldnt be much different, if any). jack up front end and pull both wheels off. take off inner fender aprons. the plugs will be right there with VERY easy access. i think i have to use a swivel adapter for 1 or 2, cant remember. i think it was to get around the steering shaft.

I think that the 2000 exhaust headers are more similar to the headers from the factory on my '97 Mountaineer than the manifolds that came from the factory on the '96 Explorer V8, but I'm not sure.

Anyway, I didn't remove my tires or jack of up the vehicles. I just unbottoned the inner fender well aprons, and I ended up doing all but 1 or 2 plugs from the wheel wells. I remember using a universal adapter or two on many of them. It's not that bad, especially in comparison to a bunch of imports.

um... the 96 has the same headers factory as your 97 Mountaineer. it doesnt have a manifold.

Hmmm, I never looked, but I assumed since some magazine that my roommate had back in '96 or '97 mentioned that one of the upgrades of the '97 Mountaineer over the '97 Explorer was stainless steel headers. My bad.
