Changing Spark Plugs

Easiest way I've found to get to #3 is to put a shop light pointing down at the area (but not in my eyes) and going at it through the fender (but get the wire of from the top). I only have to use the socket and the ratchet. Just reach in there. Do it one time and your hand becomes familiar with where it goes and what it does.

I was very intimidated the first time I did it, so you're not alone. Take your time and be patient, it's well worth it to do it yourself.

took me about 30 minutes on my 92,

for the back 2 on the pass. side,

i just turned the wheels all the way right and my hands are small enough that i could sneak in there and pull the last 2 out,

easiest spark plug change i've done was on my 95 Thunderbird, took about 15 to 20 minutes on that,

everything is right on top because it is a Sohc motor,
the plug wires were something else though

The explorer is 5x harder than a gm 3.8 motor to replace the plugs.
I definately disagree. True you can change the 3.8 plugs with the dog bones in place but thats just stupid. I can do explorer plugs in under 20 mins. That isnt happening on the 3.8 sorry. I get the privelage of changing plugs daily, I am a mechanic after all. I have found the sxplorer easy if you know how
