changing the factory steering wheel to an aftermarket

i was wondering if anyone has changed the factory steering with an aftermarket is it possible an what steering wheel adapter did you use to connect to the colume

I've also been curious of the same thing for a while.
 






you would be removing the air bag, so if it will be used on the street in the usa or canada then I don't think you can...
 






Or maybe a steering wheel from a newer generation?
 






Only real option is to get existing wheel re-trimmed in perforated leather, or plain leather. Nothing really on offer as far as aftermarket wheels go for airbag wheels.

I'm curious if you could swap a 4th or 5th gen explorer steering wheel with a 3rd gen. I've tried to find the answer to this with no luck.

If anyone knows if this is possible, I (and several others) would greatly appreciate it.
