charcoal canister wires missing?

hello, I was examining the charcoal canister and found that wires are missin like the one in this link http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=256795&highlight=charcoal+canister

so why they put that canister if itisn't work and how it would affect on my engine, and what about the vmv (purge valve) does it work with those wires missing?!!!

Is your check engine light on? Reason I am asking is some dam mice chewed the wires off the solenoid and I was getting EVAP code before I repaired the damaged wiring.

The thread you referenced if for the UK - apparently over there they don't need the EVAP emmision control equipment hooked up. Definitely need it in the US. As mentioned above, you should be getting a Check Engine light and one or more EVAP system codes.
