Charging the vehicle battery

I have a 1999 Ford Explorer Sport.

What I would like to know:........Is it ok to charge the battery while the battery is in the vehicle, all cables hooked up?

Also.....is it ok to charge the vehicle in this manner with a "trickle" charger?

You can use the trickle while its hooked up

you can use trickle or fast charge,, although the trickle is better for the battery,, as the fast charge is probably high amp and could cause the water.solution to boil off some , effectively shortening the batteries life,, as they only live through so many charge cycles,,
The more you draw it down , the longer and harder they are to recharge, until they won't really hold a charge at all,on account of they lose reserve capacity,

this i know from using high amp chargers on my electric trolling motor batteries on my boat,,

So I can't use my 10 amp charger while it's hooked up?


Wife left the interior lights on about a month ago and drained the battery. Battery is 6 months old.

I charged the vehicle with my 10 amp with the cables hooked up.

Have I inadvertantly damaged something that will show up later?

10 amp is not a high rate really,, it should be fine,,
