For the past few years my truck makes a terrible groaning noise, it seems to be coming from the rear. I see from searching others have had this on the front. I have new shocks and new tires by the way, and the noise only happens when I go around turns. It wasn't really that bad but it seems to have suddenly gotten worse. I don't know if it has anything to do with it but it is very cold here.

I'm thinking this is the body mounts?????

It could be those or it could be your leaf springs. Mine do that after a weekend in the trails and it takes a while to get the dirt and dust out between them. Best thing to do is crawl underneath and check out the condition of your body mounts. The one right under the driver's seat is going to be the worst.

thanks. its definitely coming from the rear though, not right under my seat. how would I fix leaf springs if it were the leaf springs?

Another thing you might want to check since it happens going around turns is the rear axle bearings, seals and the axle play (in and out), this could indicate worn out spider or clutch packs if you have a Limited Slip Differential.

Hey Midnight Rebel, did you ever sell that cap?

Nope, I still have the cap for sale, it's on CL and had a bunch of people asking about it but nobody close to me. I just sold the factory tonneau cover. I'll probably put the cap back on this week if the weather cooperates. Still for sale though. Did you figure out what the noise was?

No, I'm not sure what the noise is, I need to have someone check it out for me, Im just guessing although your suggestions are good and probably right on target. I have to look for your ad again, your cap wasn't the same color as my truck but I suppose I can get it painted? Its possible I could come out there this week and get it. Cincy to Pittsburgh is about 5 hours, so I'm looking at a 10 hour trip and that doesn't include the time it would take to put it on. PM me with your bottom line number.

$650 would be the bottom dollar, too many people interested and I won't be able to find another one used. These and all 1st Gen parts are getting scarce (especially in my region).

Wish I would've known you were interested, I'm heading to Toledo first thing in the morning with my uncle in his truck to pickup a new car for my cousin, could've put it in the bed (he's got a GMC Sierra 8ft bed). Kinda hesitant on selling the cap and felt the same about the tonneau cover because their getting impossible to find used (especially with everything like mine are being sold with).

I could meet you in Toledo tomorrow (Im serious) but I understand its too late.

Ya, I'd have to mount the cap to my truck (nobody to help lift it) before I head up to Elwood City to meet my uncle then transfer it into his bed. I'm already leaving my house around 6am. Timing sucks on this I pm'd and text'd Obie about the trip too because he wants to buy the sport bar and one of my bed extenders, it would've saved him more then 60% of the trip to come from just outside of Chicago but I haven't heard back from him.
