Hey All,

I think I've off handedly asked about this problem in a previous post; however, the post was actually dedicated to another problem - That's been fixed.

Unfortunately, though, it seems when ever I fix one problem, a new one develops. For some reason, and I'm not sure why, nor what may cause it, the truck seems to make a very distinct, and weird groan. I'll have my foot steady on the accelerator and for no reason, a groaning sounds seems to appear. It doesn't change pitch - or anything of the sort. I seem to be able to make it disappear by releasing my foot from the pedal, and then quickly applying it again. It seems to be making it's appearance more frequently - so much so that during a 20 minute drive to work this sound may appear up to 3 times.

I really have NO clue what this sound is, but I'm starting to get a little worried. The only thing to note having had done recently was my brake pads were changed, and I had new radius arm bushiings installed. Oh - And some type of washer was replaced. It's supposed to have a notch on it - and it's between two large nuts or something. Either way - The notch was worn and it was causing the two bolts to come loose. Sorry - I don't remember the technical terms the mechanic used. Either way - seemed to fix up some play in the tire.

So... this has become a lot longer of a post than I meant it to. Really - If anyone has ANY suggestions about this sound, or things I can check and test - please feel free to let me know. Nothing is more embarrasing than your truck making some wierd noise you can't explain. Now if only I could figure out the mechanical rattle I'm hearing when ever I hit pot holes or bumps in the road....

No one has any thoughts in regards to this issue?

Yes, the groan you describe is probably from the IAC. They tend to do this when the felt filter gets clogged up. (That's the small black plastic unit on the side of the IAC. You can remove it and clean the filter, or replace it with a piece of cotton or such. Or.....you can replace the IAC.

If you do a search on "groaning IAC", you'll find lots of info on this.

Okay. You've confirmed my thoughts. My '91 originally didn't have the black filter cap on the IAC - Since I had an older one; however, when I was having serious problems with hesitation and jerking, I had a friend with a '95 he was parting out and I took the IAC. Of course... I found out later the hesitation and such was because my truck was lacking an air filter (Should have known better) - I'll see if I can get the old one back. Hopefully that'll fix that sound... now for that darn rattle in the front passenger tire well.

Thanks for the info.
