I am wanting to lift the front end of my 94 ranger and was wondering about useing spacers and longer shocks or those screw in extension? I only drive on the road. I like the level look. I am also wondering if 2" is enough to level it out? It is only 2 wheel drive 2.3. I am thinking this would help with rear traction, by shifting the weight backwards a little? I have looked at kits on ebay for front only and also with add a leafs in the back. Some of these include shocks and some don't. I am not in a big hurry until spring/ warmer weather. I will have to do this in drive in back of house. I am a little worried about needing more than a jack and hand tools. I think if you have any experiance with these could you give your opinion on them. I don't want it to be unsafe, but like I said I don't get to far off the road.

Best was to budget lift the front end is to get a pair of F150 spring seats from the salvage yard (or local Ford dealer) and stick them under the base of the springs. The same thing can be accomplished with a stack of big (2.5") washers also, but if you use washers, weld the stack together.

This has been covered in a number of posts on this board, so do a search.

Here is THE write up on this method:

You will need longer shocks and also a front end alignment after lifting. There are adjustment cams on the top ball joints that will allow the camber to be re-set to factory or close to factory specs.

I have read several posts but some people think those cheap kits are not worth the powder and shot to blow them to hell.

Yes, those "cheap kits" many times aren't worth trying.. They don't have everything you need..

If you just want to lift your X a little (1.5 inches or so) using the f-150 spring seats and warrior shackles will give you a little lift and will still be alignable and will still ride the same unlike many cheap kits (new cheap 2" springs and an AAL)
