Alright I got layed off from my current job, but it was a blessing in disguise because I hated it and im finally going to go back to school. Any way to pass the time im looking for some in-expensive mods to do, which I know there is not that many. I will get this thread started with a write up on how I removed and painted the lower grille and fog light bezels. Hopefully this helps someone out that wants to do this mod and post anymore ideas of cheap mods you have with a writeup on how to do it.

First un-plug the fog lights and then there is three 7mm bolts holding the fog light onto the bezel. Second remove the three 10mm quick nuts holding the bezel, 2 are pretty obvious and one is kind of hidden.

As for the lower grille there are two quick nuts on top and four on the bottom

Then here is the final outcome, I think it looks a lot better but I would still like to replace the lower grill with a billet one but im not sure if it would look weird because I dont really want to change the upper grille(I like the stock look)

I also removed the lower vallance that attaches to the bumper, Its just like 10 or so of those plastic rivet things and two 10mm bolts. The rivets are two pieces, a center pin and the housing that expands when the center pin is inserted.

Hey, a little off topic, but how do those subs sound? I've been curious since I first saw them.

I like them a lot and I got the subs and a pioneer Class D mono amp for $250 so I cant complain. Im not really into super loud bass though, I have all my adjustment on my HU in the - and they still pound. I would deff. say there a good buy and you cant really go wrong with kicker IMO, nothing but quality.

Oh and I have half a sheet of MDF if any one wants to buy it or I can make someone a box for a good price.

looks good keep up good work

Are your fogs tinted or is it just the angle? If so, what did you use? I have VHT Niteshades but I don't want to use it because i don't like the outcome and I bought overlays and they weren't the right size.

Oh damn, i was getting excited

That's what I bought and I called them to tell them that they didn't fit, they said since I used them I can't return them, and I should have sized it up before I bought it. Even though it was their error. I would not recommend them to anyone.

thanks for the heads up. I know that pre cut tint for your windows still has to be cut to fit (tinted my front windows my self), might be the same deal with those

TYLER, if you dont mind...

since so far the CHEAP MOD topic seems to be ( LIGHTING )...

i really want to move away from the plain washed out yellow head lights ( STOCK )

is there a whole crazy kit on getting HID lights or could i cheat with just bulbs ???? im really curious... at first i wasnt a fan of the super bright white and blueish lights, but now im growing fond of them !!

suggestions ???

TYLER, i dont mean to jack the thread, my question seems on the current topic... hope you dont mind

No worries Caldwell I knew there wouldnt be to many people posting here considering there are hardly any "cheap mods" and ive pretty much done them all already. I just wanted to do a write up on the fog lights because it took me a minute to figure out how to take the damn things off, maybe I should of named the thread something else. Feel free to use this thread for any questions on lighting or any other questions or suggestions for that matter.

also... you want to do some cheap mods to your X...

heres a cheap one, it will cost lest than 10$, and make your X look awesome !!! i did it on mine... for a starting point

your X is all black, complete the look by painting your grille SATIN or GLOSS BLACK !!! - its really easy, and only takes about 1 to 2 hours max to complete !!!! IMO, i think your X all black would look awesome not to mention it would really make your rims ( POP ) and give your truck great contrast...

again IMO - just throwing the idea out there
