all the mp3 players are on sale @ best buy now till tomorrow (i sell car audio stuff there) i would get the pioneer 4500 if you want to stay under 200. then there's always the kenwood 622 the sony which was previously mentioned and a jvc 890 (el cheepo). i like the pioneer though.
MO, I would recommend avoiding Sony's. I swapped out the most of them while working at Crutchfield. Even though Pioneer's were good at crapping out 2 weeks after their warranty ran out. (Ok, so that only happened maybe twice in 1.5 years )
I have a portable MP3 player that is about the size of a pager. I also have one of those little dealybobs that looks like a cassette tape with a wire coming off it.
I can plug the MP3 player into the adapter and stick the adapter in the cassette player. It works quite well. I have also seen portable MP3 players that are in the shape of a cassette tape. They function as portable players with headphones and can also be inserted into a Cassette deck and will play through them. Any of your Circuit Jerkit or Radio Smack places will have them.
actually i went with the Blaupunkt MP3000, it has everything i want except the subwoofer preamp, but that wasn't too big of a deal... overall i love it so far, i can play mp3's with it, and even wma files, has customizable welcome and escape messages and a nice dot matrix screen, the screen is really close to the same color as my gauges also, so its cool....it even has a remote!....here is a picture
You could go with the Blaupunkt San Jose MP41. I got it for about 160 and it is like the MP3000 above, and it has 4V pre-outs including a sub out. I am really happy with mine.
I've been really happy with JVC's KDSH99, it was one of the first 'nice' mp3 players a couple years back. I just found out JVC has a 12 disc mp3 cd changer now... Thats like 150 hours of music
Was all stoked to buy it until I found out it uses a new type of cd changer control that my old jvc deck doesn't support...
