ok i wanted to go with an flowmaster delta series, but the way i am i decided to go with an different muffler.

now i got an cherry bomb glasspack wich is for sale at *utoZone for like 19.95 orso, then it costed me 15 bucks to get it welded under the truck at my local shop .

but the sound the truck makes now in my opinion is better then the sound of an flowmaster and you definatly feel the gain in the bottom end of the power curve with this glasspack , since it's an straight pipe with glasswool around it rather then an conventional muffler with baffles in it.

Make sure when you put it in that it doesn't have the ring in it, and if it does pay attention to the way you are mounting it, if you mount it the opposite side it will get an high pitched sqeeking sound when you hit the throttle....

mufflers

Hey man I have the flowmaster kit on my X it's 2.5" pipe and it has a y coming out the back to make it look like stright pies .. but the kit came with a 3 chamber muffler and it soulds good at about 1500 rpm but when you get down on it it dosen't have a really good sound.. I was just wondering what the cherry bomb sounded like b/c I was thinking about putting one on mine just b/c they are cheap. what I wanted to know dose it have a lot of popping like on a V-8 or dose it have some real tone to it .. ? and are you running the 4.0 or have you gone to the 302? I saw where you were going to conver it ..
If anyone knows of any other mufflers that sound good on the 4.0 X let me know. and Has anyone ever heard of A streetsweaper muffler before b/c my friend is putting one on his X I'll let everyone know if it sounds good or not ...

i have from the cat a y connector going out to two pippes and then on each pipe there is a very small muffler,, ITs probably 8-10" long and the diameter is barely larger than the pipe its self, the brand name was TORQUE MASTER and they sound cool as hell!! as a great true engine rumble under acceleration and at cruising it has a nice low tune to it. I like it personaly. Plus with the kkm induction and my chip ive have some comment that as im getting closer it sounds like a V-8

which in my opinion you cant make a v-6 sound just like a v-8 but its gotten very close!

oops forgot to mention these are expensive so i guess the dude who was askin for a cheap fix wont do it. THey are $80 mufflers.

it's louder but it's not really loud , atleast when i had the shop mounted it under the X i thought it would be louder then it is, on lower rpm's you can hear it but not that good, if you hit the throttle you hear it better.

the sound is much comparable to an flowmaster dlta ,but an tick luder (not much though) and the sound is an pitch higher, but i love the sound it makes plus you will feel the power gain in the lower part of the rpm range.

and no they don't have the popping sounds due to the reason that they don't have any baffles in them, it and straight pipe surrounded with glass wool....the big advantage over the flowmaster is that they don't have an restriction on the exhaust so it will relieve much of te back pressure on the exhaust system.

an V-8 will pop more , however i heard and ranger last week orso with an dual setup and that thing sounded like an v-8 when it was running idle and low speeds up to 30 mph , however when he was doing 55 mph it was kinda sounding riduculous high for an v-8 ...lol...but the lower rpm's sounded really good on it...

my friend got the one thats like 100 and it sounds close to a v8 but i dunno, kinda ricey if you gas it hard.

i have a 40 regular flowmaster that dumps 6 inches behind the muffler and guys withduals and camaros always want to race me.... so i play with them for awhile then yell to them that it is a v6 and then they just stomp it and pass me.... mine sounds like a v8

sound

I got the flowmaster ... with a wye pipe that somes out so it looks like duels .. anyways.... one of the pipes rusted off and so now the pipe just comes out about 1 ft to 2 foot behind the muffler and it sounds really really good .. like V8 good.... anyways just wanted to share ...

If you want really cheap exhaust that sounds awesome just get a hacksaw and some WD40 and saw your muffler completly off. Then when you have to get it inspected just have the guys at meineke weld it back on. No one will no you don't have a flowmaster.
