I had to rip the carpet and sound proofing out of the front of my 93 Ranger, as it was soggy, moldy and was rusting out my floor pans.

I fixed the rust spots and holes with some fiberglass but at 95 db when I'm accelerating, it is just a bit too loud to drive.

I tried some rubberized spray on coating that claimed to sound proof but it only lowered the db to 94.

Is there any cheap way to cut the db down to a more normal level?

LOwe's sels arubber flashing in the roofing isle a friend of mine used on his bug, it worked quiete well. Not as good as dynamat but also not nearly as expensive either.

I used "poor mans dynomat" in the trunk of my old camry it worked really well with my subs .

Product in the U.S. is called Quick Roof its an aluminum butyl sheet roll it can be found in any hardware store roofing section its self sticking and looks just like dynomat . Mind you your car will smell like Roofing tar for a week or so but it will go away.

If you are just doing the floor you should not have any odor issues . I lined the trunk lid and sidewalls and installed in mid summer so the off gasses were a little obnoxious .
