Need the code(s).

Go to an auto parts store and get a OBDI (eec-iv) code reader, or follow the instructions on this link.

Also, Autozone will normally pull the codes for you for free. Get the codes and post them to this forum.

Autozone doesn't pull codes for the OBD anymore I think.. I think they can only do OBDII codes.

yeah autozone wasnt able to pull codes for me :(
but i was sugested by a couple people it sounded like my oxygen sensors goin out

EEC-Iv codes ('8? to '95) can be pulled with little more than a paper clip. See tests at www.dalidesign.com/hbook/eectest.html They have you hook up a voltmeter/test light, but the codes are also output as flashes of the CEL.

he said he might of made mistake on that one

if its the MAF ..just replace it? or clean it?

Are you sure on the 147? I don't show 147 on my code lists. Could it be 174?

CM 157 (I'm assuming it's a CM code, because my list doesn't indicate that it would be a KOEO code and I'm also assuming you didn't run the KOER test) indicates something's wrong with MAF data.

Did it pass the KOEO test? If it did, then move on to the KOER test before dealing with the CM codes.

autozone just plugged it in..and he wrote down the 2 codes..said the 147 might be wrong..but he is positive on the 157...

now tryin to figure out how to correct problem

It appears the autozoner wasn't too sure of himself when running the test, but he came up with something.

You could try cleaning the MAF, won't hurt anything. I wouldn't replace it simply from a code. Codes by themselves are rarely enough information to declare something defunct.

Did the autozoner know enough to tell you if it passed the KOEO test?

i believe he said i passed that..
also said to take off positive wire from the battery for 3 min. could be an old code that got tripped and needs to be cleared

If it passed the KOEO test, the next thing to do is run the KOER test.

I often like the idea of clearing CM codes before spending much time on them, in case they are old codes like he said. CM codes can also be cleared by interupting the KOEO test.
