I have a 91 navajo..
Yesterday while driving the "Check engine" came on.. pulled over and killed it.. made a visual on hoses and wires but didn´t find anything obvious..

When I started it again it idled just fine but when I gave it just the slightest touch on the gas pedal it hesitates, chokes and almost dies..( a few times when doing that it actually do die..) more gas and it runs fine..
Now the idle also flux..

Any good ideas ?

Also need at tip of a online place where to buy a diagnostic tool to read the codes..

Thank you kindly..

Clean your MAF, IAC w/ Electrical cleaner and check for a vacuum leak.

Buy a $40 code reader at an auto parts store. or try this:

Hope this helps.

I'm pretty sure yours is an OBD1, Advance Auto Parts sells different ones for different makes and model years. (They should be able to help you get the right one) I got one for about $30.

In addition to the link posted by mawrazen, you might review my "notes on pulling EEC-IV codes" thread in the EEC-IV forum.
