Help Help!!!! Anyone know about that stupid "Check Engine" light? It just popped on last nite when I got home. Well this is how it all started. I was heading the wrong way to my friends house so i had to turn back. Instead of finding the next closest intersection, I went across the middle of the island where there was a dip. The area which i drove over was just plain grass. When i dipped down, the tailend of my explorer hit the ground (due to clearance) and made a bang noise. Then i thought maybe itz nothing, after driving for 5 more mins the light came on. But the I notice the light came on after I floor the pedal to pass another car. It began flashing "Check Engine" then finally it came onto a solid "Check Engine" light. Just tryin to figure out what if maybe, hitting the tailend against the floor mite have done. did i damage somethin in the exhaust? But the exhaust physically seems to be ok. Any tips anyone? NEED HELP QUICKLY PLEASE!!!! Thanks! much appreciated!

It was probably just a coincidence that the light came on when you did what you did. Check engine most of the times means O2 sensor goes bad or it's dirty. Check this board for messages regarding O2 sensors and you should be fine.
Don't panic. If it happened to you chances are it happened to somebody else and they've been able to solve it.

Good luck,
